Panels

Panels are an integral and important part of all VLDB Conferences, and we are seeking proposals for panels for the next edition of VLDB, to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 27-31, 2018.

Panel proposals should address controversial issues and must be debate-oriented, engaging all panelists as well as the audience, rather than being just a series of short presentations. The proposal should include the topic, a short statement about its importance and relevance and the potential issues of controversy, a tentative list of questions that will be posed to the panelists (likely to be disclosed to them beforehand), a list of potential (ideally confirmed) participants along with their affiliations, and a short bio for the moderator, and, possibly, for each participant. Unless explicitly specified, the person submitting the proposal will serve as the panel's moderator.

The Panel co-Chairs would be happy to discuss the suitability and interest of potential proposals before they are actually submitted. Proposals should be no longer than two pages (in VLDB paper format) and submitted electronically by March 9, 2018 to both Panel co-Chairs. Decision about submissions will be communicated to the proponents by April 30th, 2018.
