Innovation through Collaboration
The IBM Centers for Advanced Studies (CAS) program, established in 1990 at the IBM Toronto Software Laboratory, has played a significant role in bringing together worldwide academia, government, and industry research organizations. It is a model for facilitating the transfer of advanced technology into strategic products. By working closely with universities around the world, with government agencies and funding bodies, and with the IBM research labs, CAS has created a world-class applied research program that offers a winning solution. As of January 2004, there are nine Centers for Advanced Studies around the world.
